Living with God … means following Jesus

We are glad about your interest in our webpage.

Who we are is not something we can describe with a name of a religious institution or Christian denomination—something else unites us. That’s why we would like to briefly introduce ourselves…

We are Christians, people of various ages, occupations, nationalities and backgrounds, who want to take life with God seriously. In Luke 15:11-24 we find one of Jesus’ parables that says:

“There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”

We chose this parable because it describes our own lives. We once led selfish and self-centred lives in our self-determined ways, until different things made us think about questions like: “What am I actually living for?”, “What is really sensible?”, “What will remain?”, “Where do I find forgiveness?”, “Where do I find truth and real answers?”, … These questions urged us to start looking for answers. We all went along different ways, eventually arriving at Jesus, finding the answers to our questions in Him. Now, we are living with Him. And we are very grateful for this life.

We want to take Jesus and His Words seriously. For us, life with Him is neither a hobby nor a religious duty handed down to us. We don’t want to compensate for the bad things we have done by following some religious practices either (that’s not possible anyway). Being thankful that He gave us meaning in our lives, His forgiveness and true peace, we want to walk the way of sincere daily worship, as Paul describes it in Romans 12:1-2:

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Jesus gave us a new commandment:

“…love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34)

There is a lot of content behind these words. Jesus showed His love in that He gave His all till the very last so that we may find our way back to God. He set an example of this loving devotion to his disciples, who were to follow Him. This is still true today for anyone who wants to be His disciple, which is, to be a Christian. John wrote in his first letter:

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” (1 John 3:16)

We want to practise this kind of devotion in our daily lives. That’s why we are not merely a Bible study group. Neither do we have anyone giving a speech nor do we hold any weekly events. What we rather want to do is help each other, by whatever means possible for us, to walk on the narrow path which Jesus spoke of (Matthew 7:14) and to live a pure life. As often as we can, we come together to read and think about the Bible. In this way, together we get to know God, His will and His standards more and more, with ever increasing depth. This helps us to be more prepared for situations in our daily lives in school or at work so that we are able to act in such a way that people can see that Jesus is our lord and that we are not driven by current trends or peoples’ expectations. It is often not easy to be a fish that swims against the stream. Fellowship with those who have also chosen the narrow way strengthen and encourage us very much to be faithful to God.

We would like to share this good experience with others. That’s why we invite you so that we can get to know each other.

In times when many sit at home in front of their computers for hours while growing lonely, it is especially important to build sincere personal relationships with each other, those that are based on love for God and the truth.

We don’t know who you are. Maybe you don’t believe in God at all, or maybe you have some doubts. Maybe you are unsure about what or whom you should believe in. Or maybe you are a believer and are looking for fellowship with Christians, or maybe you are interested in how others practise their faith…

Whatever it is, we welcome everyone who wants to find sincere answers to sincere questions.

“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7)

“Let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” (Revelation 22:17)
